General Investment Questions

There’s always a level of risk when investing in the stock market. However, we believe there’s more risk with not investing and letting inflation depreciate the value of your money in your regular bank account. When investing, always make sure to do your own research and see if an investment fits your personal risk tolerance. Based on historical data, the S&P 500 grows around 7-10% each year. It’s statistically improbable for you to lose all your money, unless every company in the world fails and there is some sort of apocalyptic event, in which money probably wouldn’t even be the main problem anymore.

Possible? Yes. Probable? We don’t think so. Remember, investing is a marathon, not a sprint. Stay consistent and disciplined and you will see results in the long term.

When you sell a cash-secured put, you want to first make sure you have the funds to purchase 100 shares of a stock. You then sell rights (not obligations) to another person to sell their shares to you for a certain price and by a certain date that you choose. In return, you collect a premium, which is essentially your income.

It really depends on what you want to sell covered calls and cash-secured puts on, but we encourage our members to have at least 100 shares of a company to start selling covered calls. This is 100 times the cost of a single share of a company. We want to make sure that the stocks we trade and invest in are fundamentally strong and favored by Smart Money, which means that shares can range around $50-$200. We recommend roughly $10,000 or more to start trading the Wheel.

This depends on what your underlying stock is. If the underlying stock is part of the S&P 500 and/or DOW 30 and have strong fundamentals, there is statistically less risk as many large institutions will put their capital into these companies. As with any investments made in the stock market, there is always a level of risk.

You can start investing with as little as $100. There are many brokerage apps now that allow you to invest in fractional shares. One of the biggest stock market myths is that you have to have millions of dollars to invest, which is simply not true!

It’s really up to you! There are a lot out there, like Charles Schwab, Fidelity, Vanguard, E-Trade, and more!

When you sell a covered call, you first purchase 100 shares of a stock. You then sell rights (not obligations) to another person to buy your shares away from you for a certain price and by a certain date that you choose. In return, you collect a premium, which is essentially your income. You can learn more about this in our introduction series. (Membership required to view.)

You will need to get clearance on Level I options trading in your brokerage account to sell covered calls and cash-secured puts.

We can’t guarantee future results. However, by looking at the stocks our community has been investing in and the overall performance of the S&P 500, our portfolios have grown quite a bit. We typically have members aim to make around 1-5% of their portfolio amount each month during a bull market.
